Not Conformed, But Transformed!

It’s hard to find much out there on the subject of faith in connection with fitness. The two subjects are almost always separate. I want to share why I feel, as a Christian, the two should naturally work together.

Romans 12:1-2 says, “Therefore, I urge you brethren, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

As a Christian, I am bought with a price... the precious blood of Christ. I am not my own anymore. God has shown me more mercy and grace than I can express and I should do exactly what that passage says. In light of His mercy, I should offer my body as a living sacrifice To Him. This includes how I take care of my body. Everything I do should honor Him. I fall so short! This passage tells me how to do this! It’s a daily thing.. to be transformed , or changed, by the renewing of my mind. I do this by daily seeking Him, reading His word and spending time with Him. It also says not to be conformed to the pattern of this world. I need to see myself through the WORD and not the WORLD! The more I see myself through His eyes, the more I see that I am created for a purpose. He has big plans for me! If you are a Christian, the same goes for you!

It is so important to fully rely on God in all things, including your health and fitness. We have a mission as believers! We have to be fit for that mission! I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to miss all that He has in store for me! It’s time to look to Christ for our strength in all things! With Him, all things are possible!
